Application and installation of external ultrasonic liquid level meter
ULM_1 Series Sensors
Ultrasonic can penetrate most materials of the container wallwith its good penetrability. It is convenient to use wheninstalling the sensor on the bottom or outer wall of the containerto measure the internal liquid level height and distancedestroying the morphology of the container. It is an perfectsolution for the measurement of flammable, explosive andcorrosive liquids which are not suitable for drilling hole.
In the process of measurement, the liquid level meter sends outultrasonic wave through the transducer at the front end.ultrasonic wave passes through the wall of the container andpropagates in the measured liquid, it will be reflected whensound wave meets the liquid level or the wall of the container.
The transducer receives the reflected sound wave and convertsit into the corresponding electrical signal and the propagationtime of the sound wave in the liquid can be obtained afterprocessing, then the liquid level or distance value can becalculated when the sound speed is known.
This product can also be directly put into the liquid (noncorrosive) to measure the liquid level or distance. It is widelyused in depth measurement, underwater robot anti-collision andother fields.
ULM_1 series Sensors are powered by 5V-12V DC and theycommunicate With the customer's control system by using
asynchronous UART TTL signals ,. RS485,4-20Ma,0-5Voptainal. They have a very short (less than 200 m sec.) power uptime, in this operation, the distance measurement can beobtained by briefly applying the supply voltage to the sensorand then removing it. This function is particularly important inbattery operated installations. Continuous temperaturecompensation is performed to achieve precise measurementaccuracy.
Liquid level measurement:
To measure the liquid level externally, it is necessary to first find a suitable installation positionand the sensor should be installed at the bottom of the container with a flat surface and no rust ordirt deposition. The installation position shall be at least 5-10cm away from the side wall (if it istoo close, it may cause inaccurate measurement).
It is recommended to use appropriate ultrasoniccouplant (or Vaseline, solid lubricating oiletc.) to confirm the installation position after thevessel wall is cleaned. Apply the ultrasoniccouplant between the bottom of the container and themeasuring surface of the sensor, press itfirmly and send out air. If the correct liquid level valueis measured at this time, the installationpoint selected on the surface can be used, otherwise, it isnecessary to find another installationlocation. After the installation position is selected, clean upthe coupling agent used previouslyand stick the sensor to the selected installation position withAB glue. During the installationensure that the sensor mounting surface and the bottom of the container are fully fitted andthere is no air in the middle. The installation shall be parallel to the measured liquid level.
The sensor can also be directly put into the liquid to measure the liquid level height or distance.
In the application of underwater distance measurement and obstacle avoidance, the transmittingsurface of the sensor only needs to face the direction of measurement (if it is used in the waterfor a long time, it is recommended that the customer do a good job of waterproof treatment atback of the sensor, and only expose the transmitting surface in the water)
